Austria is steadily making a name for itself in the snowpark world. We caught up with Thomas Alton, who is responsible for the park design in the Snowpark Damüls. This park is not world famous, yet. But it is top quality and improving every year. So definitely a nice spot to keep an eye on and go by if you happen to be in the area.

Val Thorens is a popular ski resort in the huge 3 Vallees area in France. The whole area offers an incredible 600 KM of interconnected slopes and 180 ski lifts. Wow!
The local snowpark in Val Thorens has grown a lot in recent years and is now right up there with the best parks in France. We got the chance to hear more about the park straight from the source. French shaper Romain Dujean is part of the team that designs, builds, and maintains the park. He lets us in on what Snowpark Val Thorens is all about and what it takes to be a park shaper. Imagine waking up every day just to go up to the snowpark and hang out all day. Sounds like a dream job, right?

James Woods is a 19-year-old freeskier from Sheffield, UK. Everyone just calls him Woodsy by the way. Sheffield is an unlikely place to grow up and become one of the world’s best skiers, but Woodsy had a secret weapon – the dry slopes. For those who don’t know dry slopes are artificial slopes that you can ski basically in all kinds of weather.
I first met Woodsy a couple of years ago in Saas Fee where he was coaching at a summer camp. It was clear that the boy had a special talent, but I mainly remember him for his really positive and humble attitude and very friendly nature.

Halldór Helgason is the Icelanic snowboarding phenomenon that at the age of 20 has come a long way in snowboarding. He has an 2010 X-Games Big Air gold medal to his name already with a perfect score of 100 (check out the video below). He always seems to do what he does in great style.

Gjermund Braaten is 21 years old and from Torpo, Norway. When he reached high school age, he decided to go to audition at NTG, which is Norway’s top school for snowboarding (and other sports). He made it in and never looked back from there. In his third year at NTG he was in the Norwegian National Team.
